Today we visited Barker & Jones bookshop for a workshop with the author and illustrator Alan Nolan. Alan told us about his fascination with comics when he was younger and how they inspired him and his friend to write and sell their own. We had time to draw one of Alan's favourite characters, Ollie the dog, and we got to finish a comic that Alan had started. It was a great day and when we got back to class we raffled a copy of Alan's latest book, "Fintan's Fifteen". Guess who won? Fintan!! Weird, huh? We did a really quick but fun science experiment this week. We've been learning about states of matter and looking at properties of materials. What does this "dancing raisins" experiment show us? Fill up a glass with 7up and drop in a few raisins. The carbon dioxide bubbles in the 7up rise to the top as they are lighter. As they do this, they sometimes attach themselves to raisins and drag them up too. When the bubbles reach the top they escape and gravity forces the raisins to fall again as they are heavier than the 7up!
Bhí comórtas "Puc Fada & Cic Fada" againn ar maidin. Bhíomar amuigh ar an bpáirc agus bhí sé an-cheomhar! Bhí sé deacair na liathróidí a fheiceáil! Comhghairdeas Tadgh, an buachaill leis an cic agus an puc is faide sa rang. We took a walk around the school grounds and snapped the photos with our iPads. Then we sent them to Mr. Lane's computer using the app, Photosync. The video was then put together using iMovie. We enjoyed our second Gaelic football session with a coach from Naas GAA for PE this week. We practised passing, movement and shooting and we finished off with a match. |
