We started learning about The Great Famine today. The Great Famine was a devastating period in the history of our country. We looked at the website below which explains what life was like in Ireland in the 1840s and how the famine started. We also talked about how different our lives are today. Back then, Irish people mainly ate potatoes for every meal and children even brought them to school for their lunches. We're lucky to have a great variety of food available to us today.
We're very lucky here in Mr. Lane's class! Yesterday Harry brought in cake to share with the class. It was shaped like a big doughnut and it was delicious! Jamie R brought in potato soup too which also went down very well!
And today Ferrán has brought in a lemon cake. It smells delicious and we can't wait to taste it! |
