In art this week we created Picasso style monsters for Halloween. The idea came from this post on "A Crucial Week..." and we had great fun designing and making our monsters. The Great Famine was a devastating period in the history of our country. We looked at the website below which explains what life was like in Ireland in the 1840s and how the famine started. We also talked about how different our lives are today. Back then, Irish people mainly ate potatoes for every meal and children even brought them to school for their lunches. We're lucky to have a great variety of food available to us today.
Martin brought in this plaque today. He won it earlier this year at the gymnastic Nationals in DCU.
He is the mens artistic national champion at under 12s and the first ever winner from the midlands region! This week we've been taking part in a project on Twitter called "Signs of Autumn". Many classes around Ireland and from further afield are tweeting using the hashtag #anfomhar to tell the world about signs of Autumn they see around them. We tweeted a few photos today. Billy took some photos at home on his iPod and three of the boys went around the school today taking photos as well. Here are some of the photos:
